Giants...

When great pines come crashing down, and whole rivers are swallowed up in a single gulp, and a wind storm is created by the swinging of their arms, you know...a giant is near. Among the largest living creatures of the wood are the giants. Huge, fat and rather hideous humanoids, they range in height with a record of 34 feet at the head. Giants are distinct, not only in size, but by their curly, black hair, which buries their faces and covers they're fat, flaby chins. This hair is believed to have been passed down to them by their ancestors, a race of giants closely resembling bears, who lived high in the northern mountains, gobbling up mountain goats and drinking lakes. Now in the present time, the amount of hair has lessend very much, but still covers them to a great degree. Giants are very clumsy folk, tripping over things and causing earthquakes, smashing down trees in their gay excitement, and very often, mumbling in their low, thunderous speech. But they are most hearty folk, if they're on your side, ofcourse. Giants tend never to remaind faithful for long periods of time to any particular party or person. They swear allegiance to none but they're own, and even within they're clans, fueds and fights often break out. One generation may fight for humans and the next not. They're decisions are made in their hearts, which only they can make.

Giants speak a language which is foreign outside the great wood. They don't use it often, preffering usually to speak in the common tongue. They live in families of 3 or 4 in crude log huts, cooking deer or moose when they can catch it and drinking jugs of beer and ale. Seldom will a giant venture far, far enough, that is, to reach a kingdom where men live and reign. They will, however, upon finding a dead human in the wood, show no hesitation to cook it and eat it. This does not happen often though, for humans are often the prey of dragons who wont leave even a single finger left for any giant.

When encountering a fellow they're not too fond of, stalking prey, or just simply angry and wanting to kill, a giant finds himself with many weapons. He usually relies on his size and weight to catch the poor victim and squash it to death. He may, however, throw a stone, or uproot a tree if the victim is quite large.
